Officially created on April 14, 1994, the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission (FNQLHSSC) works with First Nations communities and organizations for the accessibility and development of health and social services adapted to community needs.

Founded in 2000, the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Economic Development Commission (FNQLEDC) supports and accompanies community economic development agents and organizations as well as the members of the First Nations for the successful completion of their private and collective socioeconomic projects.

Since 2014, as per a motion adopted by the AFNQL Chiefs, the FNQLHSSC coordinates the governance process. Its role essentially consists in ensuring the participation of all communities and organizations so that the health and social services effective governance model is adapted to the needs and realities of First Nations in Quebec.
