What does a flywheel do and what is it connected to?
Jan 12, 2016 · A flywheel is a rotating mechanical device that is used to store rotational energy. ... - Providing continuous energy when the energy source is discontinuous. For example, flywheels are used in reciprocating engines because the energy source, torque from the engine, is …
What are the benefits of a lightweight flywheel and why aren't …
Apr 20, 2016 · The flywheel keeps your engine spinning. The inertia of a flywheel is in direct proportion to the mass of the flywheel. Newton's first law of motion states, "An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force"
Has Anyone Ever Seen a Bad Flywheel Cause No Spark?
Nov 3, 2014 · The flywheel has a broken fin that did some damage to the flywheel. The magnets got ground down a bit. The stock flywheel has two magnets covers with a plastic membrane and a plastic divider between the two. The damaged flywheel is missing this membrane and divider. I'd never imagine some damage to the magnets would cause no spark.

Jan 1, 2020 · Flywheel doesn't have pawls on it, just conventional looking. I haven't seen the saw, he just brought the flywheel over and it's indeed broken. There's an earlier thread on this that states that likely the 270 and 280 are not the same flywheel because the 270 went to IEM, whatever that is..
Tips for flywheel removal?? - Arborist, Chainsaw & Tree Work Forum
Feb 14, 2010 · In addition to my response above - I guess another prime reason for using the correct OEM puller or similar (+ the controlled thermal expansion method)is the fact that if the flywheel is indeed 'frozen' onto the crankshaft, a significant amount of damage can occurr if the flywheel is indeed levered from its position using the aforementioned ...
Help w/Removing Flywheel Homelite Super-XL
Feb 29, 2008 · The best way is with a puller, but the redneck way usually works too (Guilty!): after you've removed the nut, take a rubber mallet and smack the flywheel right on the magnet side. After a few good smacks, most will fall right off. Personally, I haven't broken a flywheel yet doing this, but I guess there's always a first time!
engine - What are the differences between a dual mass flywheel …
Sep 28, 2016 · A dual mass flywheel (or DMF) is a flywheel that is split into two halves (hence the name...), with a spring or springs between them to dampen out sudden changes in torque and rotation speed, and thus smoothen out vibrations in the drivetrain - making for a smoother drive, particularly in diesel engined vehicles, and the newer two and three cylinder engines that …
If my starter is spinning but not engaging flywheel, what is the …
May 30, 2017 · The mechanism to engage the flywheel is faulty, probably it is seized, or battery doesn't have enough power to make the solenoid fully pull the mechanism (check battery charge). Hit the solenoid "moderately" with a mechanic hammer, one or two dry blows, if next crank try works, then the mechanism is getting seized and needs maintenance.
ford - Starter spins but doesn't engage flywheel - Motor Vehicle ...
Jun 21, 2019 · Its probably not the fuseable link; more likely is that the starter motor needs to be shimmed. The starter motor has a small gear ( the pinion gear) which sticks out on a shaft to engage the flywheel. if the pinion gear doesn’t stick out far enough, it will spin but not turn the flywheel. The starter will test fine on the bench.
