Jul 13, 2015 · the confusion comes when you talk about using your 5160 to strike a flint. this is commonly called a striker. in this case the sparks are made by pieces of the steel chipping off and sparking after being struck with a flint or chert. in your case, the 5160 needs to be struck on a hard and sharp enough surface to shave off sparks.

Over the years, there have even been new members here that are confused over the terminology of this. They have mistakenly called a ferro rod "flint & steel".

May 12, 2021 · AH- the Flint River Outdoor Center owns a put-in at a place called “Goat Mountain”. A little over 5 miles above the Bluff. Maybe 6. That would be 5.5 miles from the Bluff to their shop at the 36 bridge.
