Apr 30, 2007 · Stripping flat speaker wire - at least the Radio Shack one I have - is a bit of a PITA. I split it down the middle a couple inches to separate the + and -. I then dented plastic sheathing w/ my wire stripper about 3/4" in on both parts.

I cannot bust through the walls to put the speaker wire in the wall and have been looking at the flat speaker wire. I am wondering if a 12 gauge flat wire will work just as well as a 12 gauge round wire.

Feb 8, 2007 · Just got my Flat Speaker wire in the mail and I'm having issues stripping the ends. Usually I just strip based on the wire size and the hole on the wire cutter. But being flat wire it doesn't fit in the holes really and I keep end up cutting some of the smaller wires.

But the problem lies with one of my surround sound speaker mounting locations. It's a pillar about 8"x8" and it's solid wood through most of it (I can't run wires inside of it).

Nov 6, 2015 · I have to run the wire along the fire place mantel and built ins and rather than running regular wire and putting in some sort of cable management channel, it looked like I can use the flat speaker wire and paint it to match the wall and built ins. It's not completely invisible but seemed like an option.
