The Fiat G.46 was a military trainer developed in Italy shortly after World War II. The G.46 was a conventional, low-wing monoplane with tailwheel undercarriage, the main units of which retracted inwards. The pilot and instructor sat in tandem under a long canopy. [2] .

The Fiat G-46 was a low wing basic military trainer, produced between 1947 and 1959 both in the single and tandem double seat configuration and served in the Air Forces of Italy, Austria, Argentina and Syria.

The G46 was designed by Ing. Giuseppe Gabrielli in 1946 and it was the first metallic trainer used by Italian Air force and the first aircraft produced by Fiat after the second world war. Ing. Gabrielli designed many aircraft during the war including the fighters Fiat G50 and Fiat G55.
