Jun 2, 2009 · Picked up the whole fenugreek today from the hippie store (they also had crushed/dust), it was about $6/pound, and I got 8 oz. Plan to put a couple ounces in the secondary. Fresh fenugreek smells suspiciously like curry/indian food, so it'll be interesting how the maple flavor comes out. I might end up with a nice brown curry ale.

I've done a maple as priming sugar, maple-aged oak staves, fenugreek seed beer, maple extract beer, maple in primary, maple in secondary, maple soup, maple gumbo... just kidding about the last two. Oct 28, 2008 · I've never had a beer made with sap, but I've heard of it being done. I think you're on the right path with reducing the sap down before beginning the brew; you need to add a fair amount of maple syrup to get a noticable character, and sap is so dilute by itself that I doubt you'd get much character at all just using it straight from the tree.

Oct 23, 2018 · Buy some, smell it, and imagine Mrs. Butterworth. Yes, I'm about 99.9% certain that fenugreek is used in all big commercial syrups, and is the defining ingredient of what people think of when they hear the word "maple", even though it has nothing to do with maple at all.
