Jan 22, 2008 · The easiest way to spot a fake 1985 OPC Lemieux is to check out the upper right Penguins logo (directly below). If you understand the printing process it's easy to spot a fake. I have also posted a couple of pics of the real thing and a fake (see other pics below).

Mar 2, 2021 · They need to be solid under a loupe, but you can see it from the scan. This applies for the penguin logo and 'V' shape half diamond. The penguin needs to be solid black under magnification.

Apr 7, 2021 · I’ll also add that on the back of the card Mario Lemieux’s name, NHLPA logo, NHL logo and O-Pee-Chee logo should be solid and not pixelated. There are more details to look for but the pixelation is the dead giveaway on all reprints or counterfeits.

The solid black lines, that make up the border on the front of the card as well as the Penguins logo, do not appear solid…they look like a series of small dots.

Sep 10, 2018 · Usually the smallest print (copyright) looks a little blurry, and once you see the blur there you can really see it everywhere. That and the texture of the stock are usually the best ways to tell. If you have others from the series gently check the feel on the back of the card.
