Jul 13, 2022 · Combat drones can be micro'd so you control when they shoot. Disabling them and allowing them to drift into their firing positions will "store" their shot cooldown, so you can reactivate them and then they'll shoot immediately. Drones are good at sustain damage.

Combat drones are more general-purpose and will work with nearly any build; beam drones are specialized and really only shine on ion-stacking builds, though they can find some niche use with some boarding ships if you need to get rid of Zoltan shields.
