Aug 5, 2021 · The FT-991A offers features the IC-7300 does not, including VHF and UHF all mode coverage, and Yaesu C4FM/Fusion. If someone desires those capabilities, then the FT-991A is the logical choice. However, for mainly HF operation, the IC-7300 seems superior.

Aug 5, 2021 · My main rig is the FT DX 3000 and the two do not compare. The 3000 is better at RX, even with the DNR of the 891. Maybe I need to fool around with the filter settings to get a better sound...But I wouldn't expect a small rig like the 891 to outclass the 3000. I am satisfied. It seems as though for HF, I have become a Yaesu guy.

Jul 6, 2017 · Regarding the dot matrix display ... see my post above. I was wondering why Yaesu didn't use the TFT screen like on FT-DX3000, but opted for rather low resolution, rubbish looking dot matrix. Today I've found my answer. I used my FT-DX3000 to operate WWFF from a park the other day and the display was pretty difficult to read in the broad daylight.

May 21, 2012 · I really like the Yaesu products. I'm in the neighborhood of picking up a second rig. If the price is in the $1500 - $1800 price range I will consider this new Yaesu product. If not, I will go with the FT-950. I've always heard "it's the best radio for the price". I really enjoy FT-2000 so I'm looking to stick with Yaesu.

Jul 6, 2017 · True, the FT-891 has no internal tuner, while the FT-450D does, but with a resonant antenna or a strong external auto-tuner (which many supplement the 450D with, to run a wide-band antenna, anyway), the FT-891 is the more versatile rig. Improvements in DSP over the FT-450D are huge. The noise reduction actually works very well, with less tweaking.
