Apr 13, 2024 · I would like to run 4cm, but i also want to use output 2 to go FoH. But, using the tube power amp, i need to either turn off power amp modelling or cut the sag in the amp block. Is there a way to still have power amp emulation going to FOH?

Dec 22, 2021 · Not a FM9, but I've been using an FM3 in 4CM with great results, even with a second head for a stereo setup. I keep the FM3 backline and use a FC-12 out front, to prevent long cable runs. Works great.

Aug 20, 2022 · I'm using my FM9 in 4CM with my RedPlate Magica with Humbuster cables as directed in the owner's manual. Absolutely dead silent, no added noise and no noticeable latency. I also have a Voodoo Lab Control Switcher set up to change amp channels scene by scene.

Feb 16, 2023 · FM9: Yes, 4CM should work great. The FM9 uses the same "flagship" analog processing as the Axe-Fx III which evolved from the FX8. The FX8 was the best analog path I'd ever designed but the product, unfortunately, did not sell well. I took that design, tweaked it a bit and used it in the Axe-Fx III. FM3:

Nov 6, 2022 · The FM3 isn't as great as the FM9 for 4cm, according to Cliff (doesn't have the same low-noise circuitry that the FM9, AXIII and even FX8 have). Also don't love the XLR-only out on Output 1 for 4cm. Super cool unit, though.

Jan 1, 2025 · 4CM from the manual, replace the amp and cab block with OUT3 and IN3 blocks. I go a slightly different route from 4CM by running my amps into a reactive load box, so it's just line-level back into the FM9. So I still use a cab block in the FM9.

The Four-Cable Method (“4CM”) uses custom presets to insert the FM9 at two different points along a long signal chain. This setup was more popular years ago, but as amp modeling improves, fewer and fewer players use it.

Oct 20, 2021 · Having 2 FM3s would get you 2 stages of AD/DA conversion (FM3 doesn't have SPDIF inputs, so you'll have to use the analog I/O to work a 4CM of sorts). TBH, if you plan to go the "dual amp" route, the FM9 would be a better choice.

Sep 30, 2022 · I'm keeping it for mostly 4cm use with my Electra Dyne. It is incredible in 4cm. It's now my whole board except for one fuzz pedal I can't seem to live without.
