Jan 2, 2003 · Since putting the rack on my cruiser there has been zero additional wind noise that I've been able to notice. Note: THE FACTORY ROOF RACK MUST BE REMOVED in order to use this rack. Production versions are 1" taller than the ones pictured in order to clear the roof ribs of cruisers that came with the factory roofrack.

I would assume they're M6-1.0, but what do I know. (Edit: They’re M5-0.8 nutserts/screws) Here is member @western flyer’s fine work, and my goal for the project.

Feb 5, 2014 · I removed my roof rack on my blue 80 and inserted stainless bolts/sealed. My main issue and concern is surface rust where the feet of the rack used to sit. On every corner the paint is either rubbed to the base or rubbed completely off in an outline. Any tips on treating this and preventing rust, options regarding touch up painting?
