Not to be confused with the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), the SWAT agents are spread throughout the country in regional FBI field offices. The HRT had already acquired a new pistol, a Les Baer customized Para-Ordnance .45 ACP in 1995, replacing their Hi-Powers.

Dec 24, 2022 · FBI HRT definitely have the best training, funding, and equipment and support. The downside is their real world continuous ops is more limited. They spend a lot of time training and doing stuff with partners overseas. So you may be able to argue that the PT teams with ATF, HSI, etc actually get more ops and have a higher fast paced op tempo.

Mar 28, 2020 · Prior military experience is not necessary, as the selection process operates in a vacuum. Many HRT operators had no military/LE experience prior to joining the FBI. You are expected to spend at least 4 years on HRT if you are accepted. As others have said, the selection process is very difficult and competitive.

Jun 26, 2021 · You have to be an FBI Special Agent for 2 years before trying out for HRT, even if going through the Tactical Recruiting Program. There's no direct pipeline. They recruit a lot of SOF guys with the hope that some will get through, but the majority don't get through the initial screening process to become basic Special Agents.

There's a special program that allows former special operations guys a guaranteed spot at HRT selection after 2 years of being a special agent. My tip is learn computer science shit and learn a language and you'll do fine
