The 347th became an F-4E wing at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. In late 1975, there were only three combat squadrons at Korat, consisting of 24 F-4Ds of the 34th TFS, 24 A-7Ds of the 3rd TFS, and six AC-130H "Spectre" aircraft of the 16th Special Operations Squadron.

The 388th TFW operated F-4Es from Korat RTAFB in Thailand from November 1968 until 23 December 1975, when the wing moved to Hill AFB. Its two squadrons (34th TFS with the JJ tailcode and 469th TFS with the JV tailcode) were heavily involved in the SE Asia conflict (including Laos and Cambodia).

Nov 22, 2017 · The F-4E was the most produced variant with 1387 aircraft being made over its 12 year production period. The “E” also equipped more air forces than any other variant of the Phantom II. In mid-1968 the 388th TFW stationed at Korat, RTAFB transitioned from the Republic F-105 Thunderchief to the McDonnell Douglas F-4E.
