The Hellenic Air Force’s (HAF) 338 Squadron may have taken this name, but it also reflects the power of the warrior squadron itself. Flying the legendary F-4E Phantom, nowadays upgraded under the Avionics Upgrade Program (AUP), 338 has remained in frontline service since its formation 70 years ago.

This Hellenic Spook was delivered in October 1974 with FSM serial 72-1530. It was modified to F-4E (AUP) by Hellenic Aerospace Industries (HAI) at Tanagra in 2001.

The Avionic Upgrade Package enhanced the F-4’s effectiveness and with its new sophisticated radar, sensors and advanced weapon systems the F-4E-AUP can even compete with more modern 4 th generation fighters like the F-15 or F-16.
