Oct 21, 2009 · no way that all 50 hp outboard wether johnson or evinrude or both will have interchangable lower units from 1976 to 2006!!!!! I know that 1989 was a year they changed lower units....follow the chart here.

Apr 12, 2013 · For your model, some 150's plus all the 175/200/225 horse models built between 1995 and 2002 (or 3 maybe) shared a lower unit/gear case - so 175 and 200, 150 XR6, 150 XRI, 175 XRI, 200 XRI, 200 and 225 Promax and Super Magnums should all fit.

Aug 18, 2011 · In need of new lu asap...can anyone tell me what lower units will fit this motor. It's a 20" shaft, 15 spline on the prop, 20 spline on the drive. I believe the gears are 1.86 (24:16).

Dec 17, 2010 · An outboard with a jet lower unit loses roughly 30% of its rated horsepower. A 60/40 would mean its a 60 hp motor if it were using a standard prop lower. But since its equipped with a jet lower its now effectively a 40 hp motor. Outboard hp ratings are taken at the prop shaft since around 1985.
