You don't want dangerous animals around while doing this, they will aggro on you and if the horse gets hit you will lose taming effectiveness. If you have an argentavis, and your server settings allow it, you can grab the equus and take it somewhere else to tame it. If you do that, it will immediately run off when you set it down.
