Epidaurus (Greek: Ἐπίδαυρος) was a small city in ancient Greece, on the Argolid Peninsula at the Saronic Gulf. Two modern towns bear the name Epidavros: Palaia Epidavros and Nea Epidavros. Since 2010 they belong to the new municipality of Epidaurus, part of the regional unit of Argolis.

In a small valley in the Peloponnesus, the shrine of Asklepios, the god of medicine, developed out of a much earlier cult of Apollo (Maleatas), during the 6th century BC at the latest, as the official cult of the city state of Epidaurus.

The Asklepieion of Epidaurus (Ασκληπιείον τής Επιδαύρου) is a renown ancient Greek healing center which is considered the cradle of medicinal arts, and the mother sanctuary of the plethora of other Asklepieia that were built throughout the Hellenic world.
