Epidendrum Porpax is an epiphytic orchid miniature species. It is a dwarf, epiphytic, warm to cold growing, reed stem herb which forms large mats of clustered leafy, 8 cm long stems carrying coriaceous-fleshy, distichous, oblong, obtuse or emarginated leaves.

This species is native to Colombia and Venezuela where it grows in pine forests, usually on the sides of trees in dense clumps or mats. This orchid can be identified by its 3" long stems covered in alternating, thick oblong leaves. Although typically olive green, the foliage will take on a purple coloration when grown in bright light.
