Emby Media Server - Reddit
When I reinstalled Emby Server, the link on the Emby app in the ASUSTOR control panel would open the Emby page looking for the old ports. So I had to manually change the port on the URL in the web browser. But I figure that will be annoying so I reconfigured Emby to its original ports. At this point nothing works anymore.
Why do people use Jellyfin vs. Emby, after switching from Plex?
The #1 reason people choose Jellyfin over Emby is the fact that it is open source. Forked from the last release when Emby used to be open sourced. It does offer features free of charge that require a subscription with both Emby and Plex. But IMO that's where the advantages end. The Jellyfin server itself along with the web UI are great.
Jellyfin vs Emby : r/selfhosted - Reddit
Jun 21, 2023 · I prefer Emby. I also have a Jellyfin instance installed and spin it up when new features are released. While Jellyfin has improved since it forked Emby, it still hasn't caught up, especially when it comes to the clients. I also feel like they add features without them being ready or "polished", just so they can add something extra to the list.

Emby Live TV / DRV : r/emby - Reddit
Jan 21, 2023 · That said, Plex appears really focused on its streaming features and not live TV/DVR. Emby is likely a better fit for OTA and IPTV with DVR. It also lets you use multiple IPTV/OTA providers at once, and multiple program guides. That’s a big plus if you have channels from different regions (international sports for example).
It's finally here: Support HDR tone mapping when transcoding
Feb 19, 2021 · I don't use Emby.. but this isn't entirely true. For example the OnePlus 7 Pro has an 8 bit display and maps 10bit video. I'm sure there's other devices that do the same, but it's not going to be exposed at the app level, it'll be abstracted.
What Emby client do you use and are you satisfied? : r/emby
Feb 20, 2022 · I use emby on my Roku 4660X (Ultra) and other models. There is always some compatibility issue with playback. A few years ago Roku did a firmware update that caused some videos to play 2x faster than normal, while the audio was normal speed.
Lagging and Stuttering When Playing High Bitrate 4K : r/emby
I have a new 4K TV and 500mpbs internet, which consistently gives me 400mpbs at a minimum. I'm connected to Emby via the Samsung TV app. When I connect to a remote server to play high bitrate 4K movies (around a bitrate of 40 or more), the connection stutters every 1-2 minutes, which means it's unwatchable.
For those who switched from Plex, why do you like Emby better?
I have 2 TV tuners, a HDHomerun Flex 4K and an internal Hauppauge card. Emby only detected the HDHomerun (and didn't see the Hauppauge card), but then it failed to connect to the HDHomerun. I like to DVR some TV shows, and it seems that getting Emby to work with the TV tuners might be more work (whereas it just works in Plex).
