I’m pretty positive it has to do with her being involved in sex work and was supposed to be meeting a client, but those men ended up making a snuff film, cut her legs off and left her for dead. Sex work is way more accepted in Europe than in the U.S.

Most people say Elsa is just like all of Jessica's other characters but she is so different from the others it is insane)

Jan 19, 2018 · I think that Elsa Mars was a very tragic character. She was by no means a saint in Freak Show, but I can't help but feel bad for her. All she wanted in life was to be a star, a celebrated one at that. It was heartwarming when she finally became one in the afterlife.
