The 1974 Elfin MR6 was designed around Repco's new Leyland P76 engine, but after Repco's withdrawal and Leyland's collapse later in 1974, it was fitted with a Holden engine for 1975. Driver John McCormack won the 1975 Gold Star title in the revamped car.

Jul 24, 2014 · Cooper’s Little Car was the Elfin MR6, a new design which debuted in 1974. John McCormack debuts the Elfin MR6 Repco Leyland # MR6L #6741 at Oran Park on 30 January 1974. A big panic as the car was running late and was launched in NSW, at Oran Park near Leyland’s Zetland HQ, a long way from Elfin’s base in Edwardstown, Adelaide.

May 3, 2018 · Then John McCormack won the Gold Star aboard a Repco-Holden powered Elfin MR6 in 1975 and John Goss won the 1976 Australian Grand Prix at Sandown in a Matich A53 Repco-Holden #A51/53-005 after a great hustle with Vern Schuppan’s works-Elfin MR6 Chev.

Cooper entered F5000 in 1971 with the Elfin MR5 and John McCormack won the Australian Gold Star in 1973 with his sister car. He followed this with a second title in 1975, this time driving the one-off MR6.

Built in 1974 using an aluminium monocoque, the MS7 was derived from the MR6 Formula 5000 using many of the same components covered in bodywork heavily inspired by Porsche’s 917/10 Can-Am.
