Hang on, so it's official that elves physically age the same as humans until around 18 or so before they plateau? An 18 year old elf isn't some baby in diapers? Yep, it's official in the 5e PHB. I'm surprised halflings can live for so long. I always figured they're dead by 40 because they're small and non-magical like gnomes.

Aug 9, 2023 · If you take the biblical 'threescore years and ten' for human lifespans, that's 70 years. Applying the calculation above, and you get roughly 234 years for a half-elf. Applying the reversed calculation for your now-40 year old half-elf, he'd resemble a 12 year old human.

Jan 21, 2020 · My first D&D 5e character will be a Sun Elf. I hope he won’t die any time soon, but I would like to know what would happen to my character if he bites the dust. Or at least what he thinks would happen. I tried to google for some answers about elven afterlife, but I got contradictory results. So I turn to you guys and gals for enlightenment.

Second: It would be erroneous to say that the elf maintains full consciousness (I know this post doesn't explicitly say that, but it seems implied in its answer), when trance says the elf "remains semiconscious." I hardly think semi-consciousness should be treated the same as consciousness. I acknowledge that this post was made before the DMG.

Elves in most settings are fairly long lived, in the 5e players handbook (Which gets this number from the forgotten realms) it's said that elves can live up to the age of 750 years old. For some people myself included this is a pain to world-build around for two reasons.

Oct 22, 2019 · I'm not sure I understand your question. Regular half-human/half-elf Half-Elves are on p. 38 of the PHB. They get Darkvision, Fey Ancestry, Skill Versatility, and their ASI of +2 CHA, +1 anything, +1 anything. These options all replace the Skill Versatility trait, just like the Half-Elf Variants do in SCAG.
