The new accommodation facility, EKOL is aimed to secure a robust long term accommodation on the Ekofisk Complex and to ensure safe, continued and cost effective operations of the Ekofisk field to the end of license in 2028 and beyond.

Ekofisk 2/4 L, with its 552 beds, all in single cabins, is the largest accommodation platform in the North Sea. In addition to the accommodation facilities, the platform also contains a number of field center functions and systems.

Plattformen fungerte som hovedboliginnretning på Ekofisk-senteret fram til den nye boligplattformen Ekofisk 2/4 L ble installert. Ekofisk 2/4 H ble stengt ned fra 1. september 2014, og er planlagt fjernet innen 2022.
