EGR1 - Wikipedia
EGR-1 (Early growth response protein 1) or NGFI-A (nerve growth factor-induced protein A) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EGR1 gene. EGR-1 is a mammalian transcription factor. It was also named Krox-24, TIS8, and ZENK. It was originally discovered in mice.

Nov 10, 2021 · Early growth response‐1 (Egr‐1) is an immediate‐early gene that resides on human chromosome 5q23‐q31 and encodes a Cys 2 ‐His 2 type zinc finger transcription factor comprising 543 residues.
Egr1 regulates regenerative senescence and cardiac repair
Jun 14, 2024 · We identified early growth response protein 1 (Egr1) as a regulator of regenerative senescence in both models. In the neonatal heart, Egr1 facilitates angiogenesis and cardiomyocyte...
Early growth response-1, a dynamic conduit in cardiovascular …
Early growth response (Egr-1/EGR1) is a zinc finger transcription factor and product of an immediate-early gene which rapidly responds to changes in the cellular environment. Egr-1 has been linked with multiple cardiovascular disorders including reperfusion injury, myocardial fibrosis, no reflow and heart failure.

The Role of the Transcription Factor EGR1 in Cancer - PubMed
Mar 24, 2021 · Recent studies have shown that EGR1 is closely related to the initiation and progression of cancer and may participate in tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis and in tumor angiogenesis. Nonetheless, the specific mechanism whereby EGR1 modulates these processes remains to be elucidated.
EGR1 is a gatekeeper of inflammatory enhancers in human
Jan 13, 2021 · We identify novel binding sites of EGR1 at a large set of inflammatory enhancers, even in the absence of its binding motif. We show that EGR1 repressive activity results in suppression of inflammatory genes and is mediated by the NuRD corepressor complex.
