A Highly Impressive Antique Eel Gleave 19th century, the six pronged wrought iron gleave mounted onto a superb length of tapering antique bamboo. A fascinating object from a bygone age.

This type of punt originated from the fens of Cambridgeshire and was used as a general working boat and for fishing. This particular example, the last of its kind afloat on the River Ouse/River Cam, was used for catching eels with a trident-shaped spear – an eel gleave.

This eel gleave is in authentic antique condition, wear & tear consistent with age & use, some minor pitting, amazingly all barbs are intact, its in very good shape for such an old piece, hang it on the wall or go eeling.
