Eilers, Sr. bought the land surrounding the swimming hole and built the concrete pool. The pool gets its name from an eddy formed by a large boulder in a popular swimming area on the river.

Mar 6, 2025 · With the arrival of Spring, Austin residents and visitors think about returning to our beautiful outdoor fresh water swimming. To handle the demand we resume charging admission fees, start selling annual passes, and close Deep Eddy for a few weeks of annual Spring cleaning. Paid admission fees resume on Saturday, March 15th, 2025.

Deep Eddy Pool is one of the first to be established in the city. Once a swimming hole on the Colorado River, Deep Eddy is now a popular freshwater swimming pool, similar to Barton Springs.
