Auditory Measures for the Next Billion Users : Ear and Hearing
Objective measures of auditory function, such as hearing thresholds, allow an audiologist to fit a hearing aid. Without professional assistance, or after the user returns home, a hearing aid user must find their own best settings, or fine-tune the aid to best help in a new environment.

Evidence from studies published in recent years supports the idea that AT might be a tool to improve speech perception and other auditory cognitive skills in individuals with hearing impairment (with and without hearing aids) and cochlear implant users (for a review cf. Henshaw & Ferguson 2013).
