The ETR 300, also known as "Settebello-type" for its use on the former Settebello train service, is a type of Italian fast electric multiple unit (EMU) trainset formerly operated by Ferrovie dello Stato. [1]

Introduced in 1953, it was operated by the Italian State Railways (FS) and used the distinctive ETR 300 -type [2][3][5] electric multiple unit trainsets, featuring observation lounges at the front and rear of the train.

Building upon the prewar ETR 200 — an electric trainset that established a 203 km/h speed record in 1939 — train manufacturer Breda developed the ETR 300 between 1947 and 1952. It had an aerodynamic shape, a top speed of 160 km/h and 190 seats.
