6V6 to EL84 in a 5E3 or other dual 6V6 amps. Any experiences?
Jun 5, 2017 · EL84 might sound a touch tighter in the lows, but there are easy and common mods to give the same effect to the 6V6's. Also, FWIW there are tube converter to run EL84's in octal sockets, if you're interested.
5E3 Mods - Rob Robinette
My three favorite mods are: 1. Switched Negative Feedback 2. Lead Channel 3. Master Volume. Most of the mods below are on a switch so you can deactivate the mod. A slightly modified 5E3 can be a very versatile gig amp and I encourage everyone to build or buy one.
Schematic for EL84's in a 5E3 - Music Electronics Forum
Jun 25, 2008 · Anyone have a schematic or layout for running EL84's in a 5E3. Double check me on this: screens pin 9 (6V6 pin 4), OT leads pin7 (6V6 pin 3), heaters pins 4 & 5 (6V6 pins 2 & 7), cathode pin 3 (pin 8), input pin 2 (pin 5). Use 100 - 1000 ohm screen resistors. Use a 130 - 150 ohm cathode resistor.
EL84 "Tweedle Dee" Modded Amp - The Amp Garage
May 13, 2024 · I got one of the early ones, and enjoyed it so much I asked him to make a 5E3 variant, same power section as the Bantam but with a 5E3 type preamp. Just the bright channel high input, with a toggle for triode/pentode mode on V1.
Tube Bias Calc - Rob Robinette
The Fender 5E3 Deluxe is a cathode biased Class AB amp. The Fender 5F6A Bassman and most Marshall amps are fixed bias Class AB amps. Fixed bias amps have a bias circuit that puts a negative voltage on the power tube grid.
New build EL84 vs 6V6, single vs Push Pull - EL34 World
Apr 12, 2017 · the master volume control in RobRob's 5e3 Deluxe Micro ..... , I've used on SE 6aq5 , el84. mashups of Kalamazoo #1 and the 5e3 preamp. The 6aq5 used a 500k MV pot alone for the gridstopper and the 6aq5 could just as well be a 6v6.
5E3 Tweed Deluxe build using an inexpensive Monoprice 15W …
Oct 4, 2018 · I was researching a DIY build of a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone. A main consideration in the price of a build are the tubes, transformers, speaker, and case. The 5E3 circuitry is dirt cheap - you can buy a ready-assembled (or DIY kit) circuit board for $40-50.
What should the bias be for the 5E3? - Music Electronics Forum
Mar 28, 2009 · My experience with EL84 in a fixed biased amp is, that some brands measure very different to others. Chineese rubys would need a lot more bias voltage than a pair of jj EL84 in the same amp. WIth the amp I could adjust teh bias so no problem,,
EL84/6V6 5E3 Power amp question - The Amp Garage
Jun 12, 2012 · As the title implies, I'd like to build an amp with a 5E3 power section, but use a 6V6 (or 6AQ5) and an EL84 at the same time. (One for push, the other for pull) Why hasn't this been done before? Assuming that you have the proper value cathode bypass caps / resistors I don't know why it would be too much of a problem.
EL84 + 6L6 in parallel in same amp! 3.3K primary?
Jun 30, 2009 · Using a pair of EL84 and a pair of 6L6 in the same amp! The biggest problem to me was matching the primary of the OT, but then it occured to me that: - the Vox AC15 uses a 6.6K output impedance (vs the typical 8K for EL84s) - you can run a pair of 6L6 with a lower B+ in a 6.6K impedance too, like people putting 6L6s in their 5E3!
