A spellslinging deck will run less creatures, a lands heavy deck will run more lands, and higher power playgroups tend towards lower mana value decks in general.

My opinion is that two-color is the best for newer edh players as they are versatile and easy to make a stable, inexpensive manabase for. Mono-colored decks are viable in EDH, but there is plenty of mana-fixing available for multi-colored decks and the added flexibility is very welcome.

A normal EDH deck and a cEDH deck are playing different games (occasionally in favor of the EDH deck, if the cEDH deck is attempting to lock down an established meta).
