Jan 27, 2024 · There's also two or 3 splits with the car. The 2010-2011 models were with the M273 engine which had their own issues with intake manifolds going bad. The 2012-2014 had the newer M276 engine with turbos and more power and better gas mileage. The 2014 was also the facelift but last year for the US E550, they were still in other countries like Canada.

Jan 26, 2023 · I know this sub hates German cars but the w212 chassis is a reliable platform when taken care of. The biturbo V8 they put in those does have a short but very costly list of failiure points and the air suspension has garbage reliability.

Jul 9, 2023 · Airmatic was standard on the E550 until the later years. It was standard on this year along with real leather instead of MB-tex and heated/cooled seats. Cooled seats weren't even an option on the E350 but you could get real leather as an option. Real leather is better as the seat stitching tended to rip with MB-Tex but not with real leather.

**E550** Pros: Twin Turbo V8. This is a big one for me. The last E-class Coupe to come out with V8 and the closest thing to IRL e63 Coupe that never happened. (AMG engine was literally based on this one but with a larger bore). I was planning to install cut-out valved exhaust on it and celebrate V8 sound while we can.

(first e55 blew the stock motor with no mods, the second puked all its trans fluid on the freeway and may have a bad trans. so theyve been extremely unreliable compared to the general consensus. both stock or near stock, and less than 2k miles since i owned). the e550's were both the most reliable vehicles ive ever owned besides my aprilia shiver.

The E550, as someone mentioned, you can drop $800-1400, depending on what tune you get, and get ~500hp. Get a resonator delete, and you get a much better sounding car. Not quite AMG, but it is a very sweet sound still.

Nov 5, 2021 · I own a 2012 E550 coupe (airmatic, AMG package, winter package) and it is absolutely fantastic. It’s been extremely reliable (I’m only at 33k miles though). I know someone with a 2010 E550 coupe. It is just over 100k miles and it has never had a mechanical issue. As long as it has been well maintained the M278 engines are bulletproof.
