Use your dip stick, how much oil you use really depends on how good of a job you did draining. Get some Mobil1 and it's a bit more than 6.5 quarts. Just add 6 and let it run and then top it off.

You might be ok using 5w30 in Minnesota year-round, and 5w40 in Florida year-round. I use BMW 5w30 oil during the winter months, then Pentosin 5w40 the rest of the seasons.
