Jan 16, 2012 · Bimmer Brakes just launched a new harmonic crank balancer for the E46. At 500 it seems like overkill for everyone but JVR826 as he is a major track junky. My stock 330i has a pretty smooth inline 6 as it is.

Feb 2, 2025 · I have owned 5 e46s. 3 330s (one is in heaven now), 1 325 stick, and 1 that was a 325 auto and now is a 330 auto. Honestly, the 330 with the 6 speed is nice, but the 325 with a five-speed is in some ways more fun. The shifting is a little notchier in a good way, and the engine is plenty quick. Gets better mileage as well.

Apr 24, 2012 · I forgot to mention the engine is entirely different. M3 3.2l iron block with stronger internals vs the 330 m54 3.0l "al-sil" block. Totally different compression ratios too. Selling the 330 for the M3 is a good idea. E46 M3's are very inexpensive now but maintenance cost is a bit higher. I think it's worth it IMO.

Dec 2, 2002 · Depends on the price difference. 328 STOCK is a bit slower than 330 STOCK. However, 328 with 3.15 or shorter diff will equal or be faster than a 330 until you get to seriously into 3 digit speeds. Of course 330 comes with better brakes. Again, you can get after market brakes that are better than the 330's stock units.
