The BMW M1 (model code E26) is a mid-engined sports car produced by German automotive manufacturer BMW from 1978 until 1981.

BMW Motorsport shifted its attention to the development of the M1 using a six cilinder version of the M12 engine, the larger touring cars and of course Formula 1.

When the E21 3-series was introduced in July 1975, there were only four-cylinder M10 engines available. The range included the 1.6 litre 316, the 1.8 litre 318, the 2 litre 320 (320/4) and the 2 litre fuel injected 320i using Bosch’s K-Jet mechanical injection.

Feb 11, 2022 · Even though the E21 now runs under its own power once again, the original 3 Series is in need of some serious TLC. Whether it’s worth fully restoring or not depends on whom you ask.
