Dysbindin - Wikipedia
Dysbindin, short for dystrobrevin-binding protein 1, is a protein constituent of the dystrophin -associated protein complex (DPC) of skeletal muscle cells. It is also a part of BLOC-1, or biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles complex 1.
Dysbindin-1 Involvement in the Etiology of Schizophrenia - PMC
Dysbindin-1 binds to α- and β-dystrobrevins and regulates muscular and neuronal morphologies. Dysbindin-1 may also interact with snapin and disrupted in schizophrenia 1 (DISC1), and thereby modulating neurotransmitter release and neurodevelopment, respectively.
Dysbindin and Schizophrenia: It's dopamine and glutamate all …
Dysbindin-1 is encoded by the dystrobrevin-binding protein 1 gene (DTNBP1) and is located in synaptic sites throughout human and mouse brain (1). Genetic variations in DTNBP1 impact human cognitive abilities (2 - 3) and have been associated with risk for schizophrenia (4).
Dysbindin-1, a schizophrenia-related protein, facilitates neurite ...
Apr 19, 2011 · In this study, we identified necdin as a binding partner of dysbindin-1 using a yeast two-hybrid screen. Dysbindin-1 recruits necdin to the cytoplasm, thereby attenuating the repressive...
Dysbindin - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
Dysbindin, also known as DTNBP1, is a molecule that plays a crucial role in the assembly and mechanical stability of the postsynaptic apparatus at neuromuscular synapses.
Dysbindin-containing complexes and their proposed functions in …
Dysbindin (also known as dysbindin-1 or dystrobrevin-binding protein 1) was identified 10 years ago as a ubiquitously expressed protein of unknown function. In the following years, the protein and its encoding gene, DTNBP1, have become the focus of ...
Dysbindin, a Novel Coiled-coil-containing Protein That Interacts …
Dysbindin is an evolutionary conserved 40-kDa coiled-coil-containing protein that binds to α- and β-dystrobrevin in muscle and brain. Dystrophin and α-dystrobrevin are co-immunoprecipitated with dysbindin, indicating that dysbindin is DPC-associated in muscle.
Dysbindin-1 modulates prefrontal cortical activity and …
Oct 10, 2016 · We explored in dysbindin-1-deficient mice (dys–/–) (1) schizophrenia-related behaviors, (2) molecular and electrophysiological changes in medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and (3) the dependence of these on D2-receptor stimulation.

Dysbindin, which binds dystrobrevin, is found expressed in the vasculature of muscles by immunolabeling, and a complex containing dysbindin has been discussed for cranial blood vessels (Benson et al., 2001).
Dysbindin is an evolutionary con-served 40-kDa coiled-coil-containing protein that binds to - and -dystrobrevin in muscle and brain. Dystro- with dysbindin, indicating that dysbindin is DPC-asso-ciated in muscle. Dysbindin co-localizes with -dystro- brevin at the sarcolemma and is up-regulated in dystro-phin-deficient muscle.
