I have to admit, if all a unit needed was bands and clutches and seals, and the disassembly stayed at the major subassembly level and there were no other "nuance" failures, my skills would probably be sufficient to disassemble, replace the typical worn parts, and reassemble.

Sep 7, 2014 · The other dynaflow is known as FLIGHT PITCH dynaflow and it's very hard to find parts for. It has PRNDG for the shift indicator. Standard equipment on 58 roadmasters and limiteds. Optional on Supers, Centurys, and Specials. The dynaflow you have has parts available and are reasonable. If it were me I would rebuild it myself.

Cast iron bell hsg 1163913-3. add this one to your database research. The assembly pn is 1166140 which uses a bushing in the reaction shaft, this pn is unique to the 55 but the casting # may or may not be.

Oct 8, 2012 · The 55 Special dynaflow that I drove in high school and later routinely beat 55 Specials with 3-speeds. Every time the the 3-speed shifted I gained a fender length. The dynaflow was started in Low and held there until 60-65mph or whenever the points and/or valves floated.

Feb 21, 2018 · Certainly. I think the real question though is how long will it stay leak free. My understanding of the Dynaflow is fluid pressures are created to make the transmission provide power. There are two pumps working like mad to make us go. These high pressures(200 psi) will eventually find ways around seals and gaskets.
