Jun 20, 2022 · We do live in the country and we also have a pond for a popular rat water supply. We have also tried; 7 gallons of concentrated mint and eucalyptus. Cloves. Power washing through the rat holes and filling them in consistently. Rebuilding the coupe under instructions regarding how to keep rats out.

Jul 14, 2009 · Seriously the rat trap is probably the best idea, provided the ducks cant get to it, the last thing you want is a duck caught in a rat trap. When I was growing up and we developed a rat problem in the horse barn and poultry house, we got a terrier.

Jun 24, 2015 · That'd be my only concern, possible poison transferred to your duck. Ducks are omnivores, so they do eat smaller animals (frogs, lizards, etc) when they get the chance. Totally normal. A little unusual for one to eat a rat, but Muscovies are huge and should be able to handle it. I've seen chickens eat mice before.

I have 3 Drakes and have never had one of them be aggressive towards anyone, They are actually more mellow than the ducks except to each other. lol I have chickens/ geese and Scovies and they all get along with plenty of space to keep out of each others way, they don't sleep together.

Jul 20, 2018 · I also set out a kill trap but hoped the live trap would work. I hot glued dog food onto the kill trap mechanism and was a bit relieved the next morning when the trap was empty. I didn't want to deal with a dead, mangled rat. However, when I went outside I found the rat had eaten the bait, escaped the trap and died about 2 feet away.

May 13, 2010 · Yes! I have one that's moved to the duck pen since i sold the geese. It was stealing the eggs & eating the feed too. There hasn't been eggs missing for a while now so maybe my ducks started getting mean finally. I have also noticed that something is pulling rotten eggs fromt eh compost pile out into the field.

Oct 2, 2017 · The other day I was in the dickens (thats my word for the duck and chicken coop/pen lol) pen There was something gross looking floating in the duck pool .. I scooped it out it was mostly white with black at the neck almost looked slimy but that could be because it was in the pool I bring it over to my boyfriend.. I have it sitting on the rake
