Playing monk in a game with limited items and no magical weapons has proven to be a great advantage; however the DM has made night time far more dangerous and consequently my sunlight sensitivity is becoming a major issue.

My damage still feels good finding various staves along the way, the class feels helpful with the spells and stunning strikes.

Oct 20, 2020 · I play a half-elf shadow monk with a similar background in my main campaign (mine was raised in a death cult, essentially). I don’t know much about the drawbacks to playing drow tbh, because I am a new player. That said, if perception is dinged by playing drow, you may want to look into taking the Observant feat, since that helps your perception.

Jan 31, 2016 · Drow is a problematic race - it has +2 level adjustment, problems doing much in sunlight, and most other races have a strong hatred for the chaotic evil slavers. There is also Drizzt syndrome - a grimdark edgy neutral or good drow character often comes off as a clone of the novel character. Monk is widely considered the worst class.

Feb 6, 2021 · The monk doesn't take advantage of criticals well. Your base damage die is small (even with martial arts) and you're adding very little bonus damage on one hit. This multiclass is trading away significant monk features to get a small boost to combat sometimes. And that's the thing. Assassinate is not a guaranteed ability. It fails a decent amount.
