Dragonfly Ireland 2019 – 2024 is an all-Ireland Citizen Science survey of dragonflies and damselflies, and their habitats, coordinated by the National Biodiversity Data Centre in the Republic of Ireland and by the Centre for Environmental Data and Recording in Northern Ireland.

30 Dragonfly and Damselfly species occur in Ireland with an additional 3 species known only from historical records. There are 14 resident dragonfly species, 11 resident damselfly species and 5 vagrant species.

Dragonflies and damselflies are predated upon by birds, spiders, frogs and newts. They may also be consumed by carnivorous plants. The duration of the flight period for most Irish species is 15 – 22 weeks, but most individuals die within a few days of emerging due to weather and predation.

The National Biodiversity Data Centre mapping system (Biodiversity Maps) integrates the mapping of terrestrial as well as marine data and is intended to serve as a portal for the geographic presentation of observational data on Ireland's biological data.
