Founded in 1997 by Doug Baum, the Texas Camel Corps visits sites with the goal of educating the public about the use of camels in America during the 19th century. This includes historic reenactments with live camels at schools, museums, libraries, and historical sites like the Alamo.

He practices in the areas of criminal law, criminality related immigration matters and child protection law in litigation with the Children’s Aid Society. He is a past president of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, with over a decade of experience on the executive committee.

May 24, 2011 · One day, Baum stumbled on a tidbit of history about the U.S. Army's “camel corps,” and the light came on. He gave up his music career and in 1996 moved with his wife, two daughters and two camels to Valley Mills, a small town northwest of Waco, Texas.
