Dong Ping is appointed as one of the Five Tiger Generals of the Liangshan cavalry after the 108 Stars of Destiny came together in what is called the Grand Assembly. He participates in the campaigns against the invading Liao army and rebel forces in Song territory following amnesty from Emperor Huizong for Liangshan.

Liao Li (廖立) is the leader of an outlaw gang in Fangzhou (房州; present-day Fang County, Hubei). Before Wang Qing started his rebellion, he led his followers to take shelter under Liao Li. However, Liao Li refuses to accept them because he is afraid that Wang Qing will usurp his leadership position.

Dong Ping is a native of modern-day Shanxi Province, where he served as a garrison commander in Dongping Perfecture. A skilled warrior, he is noted to be handsome, gallant and with refined tastes in music and art.

Sep 19, 2008 · Nicknamed the 'General of Double Spears' , Dong Ping was one of the most feared and highly ranked warriors in the epic Chinese tale, the ''Water Margin''. Dong Ping was from Shangdang, Hedong. He served in Dongpingfu as a defending general.

Dongping Liao received the B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), Changsha, China, in 2000 and 2006, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor of the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, NUDT.
