But the producers liked Most too much to simply ignore him. In the original script, the character Ralph Malph was a football jock. Garry Marshall decided to cast Most as Ralph and, playing off Most's comic ability, he changed the dumb jock into the class comedian. In 1980, Most left the series to expand his acting career.

He has appeared in several TV series and theatrical movies since leaving the Happy Days cast in 1980 (his contract was done and it was his decision not to go back - he felt the scripts weren't going anywhere and were stagnant and wanted to do more as an actor and not play just only that ...

Feb 24, 2020 · But Donny Most stayed on Happy Days for almost another 3 years after that episode aired. He just said he wasnt one of his favorite episodes not that it was the reason he left the show. The show is not watchable after the 79-80 season when him and richie left the show
