Dec 9, 2017 · Got a gas cap, dealer gave me one without a tether, said it was the same just no tether, one with tether has been on backorder for 2 months. Did not cure my gas cap message, and now have a check engine light as well. Have not been able to get the codes read yet. Im going to order the Dorman leak detection pump, not a big deal.

Jun 6, 2022 · I had the same issue for over a year. Bought a new gas cap with zero results. Kept searching for the problem. I was ready to check the purge canister by the gas tank and do whatever was needed to get the check engine light to turn off. Finally, I changed the PCV and the purge valve. Simple to access on the 2016 Hemi.

Dec 20, 2019 · Over a year ago I got the evap leak CEL / gas cap. I was able to resolve it by buying a new gas cap (at Autozone) and sanding the rust off the filler tube. It came back a few months later, but I sanded it down more and it went away. Last July I had the fuel tank straps replaced by a recall. Last month the CEL came back with an evap leak / gas cap.

Nov 28, 2019 · I'm a really security type of person. Just recently went back to Dodge and bought a 2019 RAM Big Horn 1500 Crew Cab. I've always had either a locking gas cap or locking fuel door on my trucks. Was kind of disappointed that there isn't a locking fuel door available for the new body style 1500, but a locking fuel cap isn't possible either.
