1971 - Nieto, sur sa Derbi, remporte le championnat du monde 125 et ramène le titre de constructeur au siège de Derbi à Martorelles, en Espagne. 1970 - Derbi se lance dans l'enduro avec les Coyote 49 et 75 cc, les Correlaminos et la Cross 50, qui donnera plus tard naissance aux versions 74 et 74TT.
