Deidara/Sasori - Their ambitions to join Akatsuki is quite vague to me. For Deidara, he was young and wanted to make a name for his art by blowing up stuffs, so Itachi challenged him to a fight, saying that if he was defeated, he would have to join Akatsuki. He probably ended up joining because of that.

Mar 4, 2016 · Somewhat contrary to the other two answers, it is actually unknown how Deidara got the mouths in his hands, as it is not revealed in canon. The Wikia does mention the hands in their Iwagakure Kinjutsu article, however it's important to note that the part talking about the hands is merely speculative. Quote from Wikia (emphasis my own):
