In the first image below, I have crossed off everything you will be removing with desmogging your 22R. The quickest and easiest way to get rid your smog equipment yourself is to hike up your britches and start yanking anything with a vacuum hose attached to it. Be brave, because at first you will second guess everything you should remove.

I have a Redline Weber conversion kit on the way and am trying to understand the point of plates like these: What do these water lines/ports feed that is necessary to block off?

May 15, 2006 · I've seen a couple mentions of desmogging a 22R, so I know some of you have done some things. My experience has been with older vehicles, so I don't know much and the manuals aren't of much help (!).

Feb 2, 2014 · Last year I had some problems with my 87 22r/4spd w/160k miles starting to lose power and not start when below 40 degrees. I also had high idle and difficult hot starting. Everything pointed to the carb needing a rebuild.

Aug 15, 2013 · My truck is considered a "classic" in our state and is exempt from smog laws. I am going to desmog it but not change the stock Aisin carb out because it works perfectly. Has anyone done this? Likes/dislikes, opinions? Thanks '82 short bed 22R

Aug 15, 2006 · There are so many little hoses on one of these engines. I have been labeling eveything I can so I might be able to get it all back on right. Thanks for all the help. 1) Remove unnecessary shit.. IE - air pump. 2) Remove all hoses and lines connected to unnecessary shit. 3) Plug vacuum tubes.

Oct 17, 2013 · There is a diaphragm that goes bad and can suck extra fuel into the engine, and you should be able to tell when you take the vacuum line off by the smell of gas or even wetness from fuel. Also, make sure your idle solenoid is grounded properly and that the mixture and idle speed screws aren't compensating for the lack of idle fuel.

Apr 21, 2006 · I've removed virtually all smog, running 6-1 header, saginaw steering pump (no smog pump), no OEM air cleaner, no EGR, no BVSV, no HIC, no HAI, no HAC, no VSV. Only using (2) VCV's, fuel cut sol. & EVAP system. Been following the famous "how to demsog an fj60" manual. Here's what I have. -where does choke opener line go?
