The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) is the U.S. military designation for the FN Minimi Light Machine Gun (LMG). The M249 SAW, chambered in 5.56mm NATO, provides infantry squads with the heavy volume of fire of a machine gun combined with accuracy and portability approaching that of a rifle.

Jun 7, 2013 · From the RPK and the M249, the 5.45 and 5.56 are actually quite similar in damage. The 7.62x51 weapons are far superior in damage to 5.56 and 5.45 and have a large chance of knocking people out. At the muzzle they do over twice as much damage, and the lead only increases with distance (at 600m they do three times as much). This is a huge advantage.

Aug 5, 2012 · In my opinion, while the Mk48 and M240 are still deadly, the M249 is the best LMG available in Day Z. Its controllable, accurate, combined with its high fire rate it still quickly kills, is useful in all stances and closed spaces, and arguably its most important perk is that it can use common M4/M16/L85 STANAG magazines in a pinch.

With mountable machine guns, you can add tripods to the game (its in arma 2) but preferably not take a backpack slot and make you able to mount machine guns anywhere. When you mount machine guns they will be recoiless but take time to set up. These can be used to defend bases against bandits.

Apr 30, 2023 · LMG is too much for vanilla and modded already has them. You can find a 75rd drum for the 7.63x39 AK, upgrade your grip & stock to help with recoil and you've basically got an LMG. On a modded server with huge clans sure, but for vanilla? no way.
