Jan 13, 2007 · Egg color is genetic an not all birds from these breeds lay very dark eggs. If you want really dark layers it would be best to find a good breeder who breeds for quality rather than quantity. A lot of these breeders sell hatching eggs, chicks, or adults at higher prices but I personally think the price is worth it to get quality stock.

The first time, I didn't notice the smell, so I took a bite out of my egg and threw up because it tasted like chicken poop. Our chickens did have mites. Not sure if they still do.

The girls are fed a very good balanced diet, free range in a very large yard area and are fed occasional scratch and kitchen scraps. May 29, 2007 · Is there any small air cell in the dark eggs. Even a very small one. It could be that these are the more developed eggs. Remove and trash the clear egg. Sounds like the others remain in the incubator. Remember no turning after day 18 and Happy and blessed hatching!
