Jan 13, 2007 · Egg color is genetic an not all birds from these breeds lay very dark eggs. If you want really dark layers it would be best to find a good breeder who breeds for quality rather than quantity. A lot of these breeders sell hatching eggs, chicks, or adults at higher prices but I personally think the price is worth it to get quality stock.

Aug 7, 2010 · And some of our eggs smell like chicken poop when you crack them into the pan. They don't smell when you first crack them until they start cooking. The first time, I didn't notice the smell, so I took a bite out of my egg and threw up because it tasted like chicken poop. Our chickens did have mites. Not sure if they still do.

Jan 11, 2012 · Dark brown, but hatchery birds' eggs are not always dark. The brown eggs in the top picture are the Marans eggs. The 2nd picture was taken without a flash and the fourth with a flash The third picture is an egg from my CMs, but it is a weird/long shape.

Mar 30, 2013 · Hatching dark eggs can be very iffy, and a lot of people experience difficulty with them, particularly when the eggs were shipped. I sand my eggs when they are shipped, especially when they are VERY dark. I only sand until I'm just through the color, and then I mist the eggs with a betadine-water dilution the color of iced tea.

Jul 23, 2016 · My egg yolks are not as dark and rich looking as I would like, though they still taste fantastic. The girls are fed a very good balanced diet, free range in a very large yard area and are fed occasional scratch and kitchen scraps. May 29, 2007 · Is there any small air cell in the dark eggs. Even a very small one. It could be that these are the more developed eggs. Remove and trash the clear egg. Sounds like the others remain in the incubator. Remember no turning after day 18 and Happy and blessed hatching!
