My dermatologist is planning on initial dosage 25 mg 4 times daily for a week and increase 25mg each week until max of 100mg qid after weekly labs are run.

While Dapsone is the drug of choice & by all accounts results are rapid; there are alternate drugs which do not have quite the danger or side effects as dapsone. Feb 22, 2010 · Dapsone is also not a risk free drug and you want to be on it for as little time as possible. The ideal is to forgo the dapsone and just do the diet strictly as that alone will heal you.

Aug 26, 2011 · I took dapsone for more than 20 years, mostly 25-50 mg a day. My father took it for 30. Our doctor did not know about celiac But he DID urge us to quit eating wheat, which we didn't want to do. Dapsone can have side effects but if you look the really serious ones are rare and pretty much reverse when you stop taking it or cut back.

Before taking the drug I was regularly going for 4 mile runs. After a month of increasing dosages from 50mg to 100mg, my stamina was reduced to maybe 4 minutes of jogging.

Going gluten free doesn't have to be really onerous, especially if you are able to be flexible and don't have a lot of social pressures to eat food that others prepare.
