Hugo Ball’s Sound Poems. Ball’s sound poems are some of the most commonly cited examples of DaDadaismn poetry. He was a member of the movement for about two years before working as a journalist for Die Freie Zeitung. Some of Ball’s best-known sound poems are ‘Karawane’ and “Klatzen and Pfauen.’

A movement that began in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1916 at the Cabaret Voltaire, Dada embraces nonsense, irrationality, and intuition instead of the prevailing values of logic and reason.

Although best known in the English-language world for his Dada manifestos and hijinks, Tzara is esteemed in France for his large and diverse body of poetry, which is unified by his startling use of imagery, poetics of doubt, and cosmic wisdom.
